Trust for Governors Island | New York, NY
The Hills at Governors Island adds 10 new acres of public space to this unique, 86-acre island park, complete with 25-to-70 foot manmade hills, new vegetation, water features, a hammock grove, and an abundances of play spaces for children and adults alike. Sustainability and resiliency were key factors in the Governors Island master plan; to ensure the park's future the design team focused on fighting rising sea levels and enduring increasingly violent weather. Dagher Engineering provided designs for the electro-mechanical systems as well as guidance on a number of sustainable features, including photovoltaic panels, a greywater treatment system and high-efficiency irrigation.
