Dagher Engineering was engaged to design the electro-mechanical systems for Monroe College’s new school of business building, Milavec Hall. The design of the systems focused on occupant comfort, energy conservation, and minimization of life cycle costs.
Given the importance of air quality within a building in general, and in particular for an educational environment that houses a high occupant density, the design accounted for higher than normal rates of ventilation with maximal energy reclaim. This measure ensured that conditions within the building would be kept at optimal levels without increasing energy levels. In an effort to further reduce energy usage, large fans automatically operate at varying speeds to meet the transient occupancy levels within the space.
