Aziza Chaouni Projects | New York, NY

This project consisted of a complete gut renovation of a circa-1899, five-story townhouse on the Upper East Side. The 7,280 square foot building was converted to include two residential units.

The building is landmarked and included in the Historic Upper East Side district; however, it remained abandoned for some time and as a result experienced significant water damage. The front façade was left intact to meet landmark regulations, while the rear façade was removed and replaced with glass to provide more daylight. HVAC systems were closely integrated due to the limited floor heights of the landmarked façade.

The MEP portion of the project included the replacement of all mechanical/HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems including a high efficiency variable refrigerant heat pump system.
